It all started through a networking group on FB. The lovely Beccie at Floral Vibes asked if I wanted to create a few key wedding items to compliment her fab flower walls for a styled wedding shoot at Brockholes Nature Reserve – How could I say no?
It was my first ever styled shoot, so there were lots of nerves, but what a fantastic day. Beccie and I had an initial briefing call where she went through her flower wall colour palettes and what she was looking for to compliment them.
My role was to design a mini wedding package consisting of a bridal bouquet, two vase arrangements and a buttonhole, to enhance her ‘Charlotte’ wall below. Immediately I thought of autumn tones to compliment the pale colours, soft roses, just turned burgundy hydrangeas last of the seasons dahlia with snowberries and eucalyptus. Of course it wouldnt be quite be mine if I didn’t add some foraged goodies – lots of trailing ivy and ivy berries.
The day itself was dry and filled with moody skies, making the lighting perfect. I haven’t been to Brockholes before, but as I drove up to it, I was stunned. It’s an absolutely beautiful wedding venue, so different and completely tranquil floating on the water. We were in the Meadow Lake Suite, with floor to ceiling windows completely surrounded by water – simply breathtaking.
It was so good to meet new wedding suppliers, especially at the moment with Covid. We are all trying so hard to keep the wedding industry moving even though numbers are so restricted. Liz Hall was our photographer and she did a great job capturing the atmosphere and showcasing the flower wall and bridal flowers. Emma from Cop it Sweet Bakery provided a fabulous naked cake which fitted in perfectly with rustic look and Poppins Parties and Events provided the chairs.
All in all it was a great day and I can’t wait to do another one – maybe this time i’ll organise it!
